Metal

There is what I would call an amazing show coming up with Zeke, Motorhead, and corrosion of conformity coming soon.

This made me think about what would be my favorite metal band. You could argue that none of the three bands are actually metal. I would agree with you, I have always thought of those bands as straight rock even punk. With the exception of C.O.C which used to be a hardcore band and now is southern rock ala Lynnrd Skynnrd.

Ok here is the list of my favorite five metal bands of all time. These are in no particular order, I don't like lists.

1. At the Gates - Fucking kick ass evil metal, I want to worship satan when I listen to it.
2. Judas Priest - Come on they invented this shit. And the answer to the eternal question is KK Downing.
3. Slayer - No list is complete without these guys worst fucking solos ever but it just makes sense when it's coming from Slayer.
4. Sepultura - Still maybe my favorite metal band of all time. The new singer sucks ass. I am referring to the original lineup ending with the Roots album. These guys are so fucking good it's scary.
5. Metallica - I didn't want to include these guys cause they haven't made a passable album since 1988 they have put out far mor shitty albums then good ones. I just can't imagine including a list without a band that put out Ride the Lightening and Kill em all arguably the two greatest metal albums ever.

There are ton of bands that should be on here. Especially if you think of Black Sabbath as metal which would put them at the top of the list but I don't so there you go.

No one cares about this and Blaine knows far more about Metal then I do but I listened to punk in high school and fucking hated metal so my knowledge is limited.

All right. Here's the skinny on the golden age of metal. This period roughly coincides with the golden age of hardcore, after which, music died forever. I'm listing the ten best metal albums I can think of. Metallica is not listed here because those fuckers have been NOT METAL for two and a half times as long as they were metal so screw them. Their period of SUCK far outweighs and buries any contribution they ever made to metal, which was considerable. The death of Cliff Burton not only signified the end of their coolness but was also an ugly sign of other things to come, specifically grindcore.

Here are the top ten. There are more of course, but hey, ten is ten. Please note that all of these bands came from either California or Germany. The list of releases is ordered by year. Don't leave hell without them.

Slayer - Show No Mercy, 1983
Slayer - Haunting the Chapel, 1984
Destruction - Infernal Overkill, 1985
Exodus - Bonded By Blood, 1985
Destruction - Eternal Devastation, 1986
Kreator - Flag of Hate, 1986
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill, 1986
Slayer - Reign in Blood, 1986
Testament - The Legacy, 1987
Violence - Eternal Nightmare, 1988

I'm listing an 11th band below. This band is, believe it or not, a CHRISTIAN metal band that is basically God's answer to Slayer and they are so fucking good that they would give any of the satanic bands listed above a run for their souls. Check out this release.

Believer - Extraction from Immortality, 1989

If Tony could read, he would have finished in his pants by now.

Believer's seminal Christian Death (Life?) Metal album was called Extraction from Mortality.

How come you didn't include anything by Catastrophic Disaster?
